Support Orange Graphix and Get a Painting!

If you’ve been following the blog, you already know that my husband and I are taking the plunge. We are opening a screen print and graphic design shop here in Orange, MA. We are so excited to be embarking on this journey together!

Side note: The question I get most is “Will you still paint?” Yes. Yes, I absolutely will.  Bring on the commissions. 🙂

Support Orange Graphix

As we transition into this new phase, we are faced with lots of challenges that come up with opening a new business. And a good chunk of that is financial. Crowdfunding doesn’t feel like a good fit for us, but I have decided to hold a “Support Orange Graphix and Get a Painting” sale. This is a great way to support a local business AND get some cool art created during the 100 Paintings in 100 Days project. (FYI: That project will be hard to top. It was so intense! But I may try another soon…)

Day 96

Paintings, like the one above, are ready and waiting. Pick one price or two, it’s totally up to you. No matter what you choose, you have my deepest gratitude. By buying yourself (or someone you love!) a painting, you’ll not only get some art and you’ll be part of this bigger project that’s happening right now.

Search “100 Paintings” in the shop section to pick your favorites and support a local business.

With love and so much gratitude,

PS: If custom apparel or graphic design appeals to you, your business or club/sport/facility,

When an artist goes digital… and then to apparel.

official whiteSome of you have picked up on the little hints online that we’ve got a big project brewin’… Social media is good like that. We can leak information here and there and wait until it’s time for the official announcement.

Now is that time. It’s official.

This husband-wife team is opening up shop. A screen-printing and graphic design shop called Orange Graphix. I’ve been creating logos for years and I’ve always leaned toward design elements. Truthfully, the idea to start a shop like this came up a few years ago, but being in an area where one already existed (and the economy was already struggling) we didn’t want to create unnecessary competition.

Well, that shop closed and it’s the perfect opportunity to get this going.

Even though we are heavy into getting the space workable, we have orders rolling in. The official grand opening will be in the fall, so keep that in mind if you’d like to join us for snacks and to see the space. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see in progress photos and what we’re up to.

Guys this is so exciting!

PS: Yes, I’ll still be painting and taking on commission pieces. And I’m sure you’ll see another 100 day project in the near future. I just haven’t settled on which one yet.

A new year + a new project!

happy new yearIt’s one day into the new year and I’m already planning new projects. [I know. That break lasted a whole 11 days.]

I’ve got big plans for 2016, including getting my website up to speed with the services I offer and original paintings, including prints + products featuring my artwork.

For many years, I was taking any work that was offered. My answer was always “Yes!” because that’s what you have to do sometimes. Going forward, I’m choosing what to say yes to and referring out what might be better suited to a fellow freelancer/colleague.

I want to do well, but unfortunately saying yes to every project keeps me spinning in circles. Rotating from one arena to another… and back again.

One of my focuses for the new year: SELF CARE.

I had a little bit of a wake up call last year that really got me thinking about how well I’m taking care of myself. Did you see the “Taking Care of YOU” video with Jada Pinkett Smith? No? Watch it here. It echoes some of the thoughts I have about self care and the messages we receive surrounding it.

That being said, 2016 is about self care. Finally choosing the projects I really want to do is part of that. But it’s not the only part.

At the end of January, I’ll be celebrating my 36th year. Age doesn’t scare me, but physical deterioration certainly does! I LOVE being active and there are some other places I’m dropping the ball. So I propose another 100 day project.

100 Days of Self Care.

Beginning on the 28th, my birthday, I will embark on a 100 day journey to taking care of myself.

If there’s one thing I learned from painting for 100 days straight it is this: Anything you consistently work at will not only improve, it will form a routine and habits you’ll want to carry on.

I’m still working the details on this project, but at the very least I’m committing to doing some form of self care over 100 days. Even if it’s small. Even if it’s relaxing with a book of fiction [those who know me, know how hard that is].

One thing I will NOT do is blast your inbox with email daily for 100 days again. I don’t feel this project will be best suited in that format. [Plus, you might be sick of me already.]

What I WILL do is post to the blog each day and I equipped the blog with a “follow” feature [lower right corner], so those that want it, can receive emails about the 100 days progress in their inbox.

As a side note, if YOU would like to be part of this and do a challenge of your own [no matter what the project is about], I’d love to hear from you.

You don’t have to have a blog and you don’t have to be all public about it, but maybe we can work together. I’ve set up a private Facebook group that I invite you to join. It’s a closed group so anything you post will remain within the group and if you’re not cozy with a group scenario, I’m cool with you emailing me on your progress. [Yes, even daily if that’s helpful. Just know, my time is limited. I will read and respond to every email, but my responses might be short.]

Other things of note:

  • The website still under construction. Patience please while we get that organized. [Also, if anything sticks out as odd to you, I’m all ears.]

  • Still some paintings left from the 100 Paintings in 100 Days project. I kept the final day “gift” prices intact for now, but I’m not sure how long those will last so if you’re interested, might want to snap it up before I figure out what’s next for the remainders. Check them out here.

Happy New Year and looking forward to all the good stuff!
