Hi, I’m Amber. Artist. Writer. Massage Therapist. Equine Massage Therapist. Reflexologist. Social Media Wrangler. Studio Assistant. Outreach Coordinator. Logo Designer. Virtual Assistant. (And that’s just this week.)
When asked what I do, I’ve started replying with, “what do you need?” It’s a lot quicker. I don’t have a lot of time.
Seriously, this TedTalk hits the nail on the head in a hardcore way. What Emilie refers to as “multipotentialite” I’ve been calling “multipassionate.” (And Barbara Sher calls Scanner. And Margaret Lobenstein calls Renaissance Soul.)
I could’ve used this talk decades ago… thankfully I’ve still found my way here. Embracing this animal and slowly accepting it. This talk gets to the root of who I am. (and I’m sure for many others too, if they didn’t stuff these tendencies too far down.)
Years ago, I wanted to open a sweets shop. I wanted a cozy place to read a book, drink coffee, and occasionally listen to live music or poetry. This shop would have all sorts of goodies and beverages. And the art on the walls would be from local artists. The work would be for sale and the decor would always be changing. I think I may still have the drawing of that storefront, done entirely with a red ballpoint pen. I even named it The Corner Brownie. The point being that the shops door was on the corner AND the corner brownie is the best kind of brownie.
The Corner Brownie never came to light. Maybe it will one day when the time is right. Maybe not. For now, I leave you with a painted cupcake.
