A local photographer shot a STUNNING photo of Mt. Monadnock. Naturally, I asked if I could paint it. The image itself, I feel, is so much better, but this was really fun to paint.
This is what I mean about stunning:
Mt. Monadnock holds a lot of random memories for me. I’ve only hiked it a handful of times and each time I kept thinking “is this the top?”…”nope!” And repeat.
For some reason, Mt. Monadnock reminds me of my childhood friend. Did we ever hike this together, E? It’s possible it’s just the knowledge of your roots, but I’m certain we’ve been here before.
The last time I hiked it was with my husband (then boyfriend). He insisted we needed a flashlight and I waved him off. “Puh. It’s 3:30 in the afternoon. We’ve got this.” Wouldn’t you know, on our way down, we found an elderly couple that needed help? We didn’t get to the parking lot until after 9:30PM. That flashlight came in handy. (That’s right. Gloat for now, mister. Gloat for now.)
